I am a mom of 3 boys and i have one more on the way in oct and all my boys are intact including my youngest who was born with a cataract in his right eye and I choose not to operate on that either as that is the way he was intended to be..and the operation would not have been any improvement so why mess with perfection! Jvelt.
:( i wish i would not have circumcise my little man i feel like the worse mom because of it. i was young and did not think it through :( i wish i never did it
To Anonymous- tell other pregnant moms how you feel and save a boy. You made a choice and now you have more information, you can help others make informed choices. Many will listen to you more than those of us with intact boys.
Definitely! I have one son (oldest) who is circumcised and one son (youngest) who is not. I now can educate others on why we chose to not allow my last son to be cut.
The only reason my child was circumcised was religouse. Which as a matter of fact I regret. I mean I dont regret that I am a christian. but I wish I had done better research, and then with the Dr coming in telling me this is the best thing to do and then having a huge number of other people saying this is best and some playing that religouse card, pushed me. I mean I was doped up because they wanted to give me a c-section which I was totally against but being as this was my first child and I was a week over due and the dr I liked had left and switched with csection hitler, well I wasnt in a good place.
It really hurt me, not more than it did my babe, but it hurt to have a nurse who was from England tell me that they don't even offer it in England, its not routine there like it is here.
If I ever have another child and its male, I WILL NOT be having him circumcised. My husband isnt yet his older and younger brother are?? I use my mother in laws own tactis of well werent you just trying to find your parenting ground? Let me find mine.
there are medical reasons why some boys need to be circumcised. In a family that has a history of the foreskin never being able to slide properly back and having serious issues develop in at least two generations of males in the family when our oldest son developed the same problem we had to have the surgery done when he was 16 months old. it was very unpleasant for him, but the alternative would have been worse. Consequently i had no guilt in have my other 2 sons done early. When my grandson was born I gave the facts to my son and his partner and they decided not to proceed. Unfortunately the problem surfaced and he needed to be circumcised at about a year old.
The chances that a male would actually, medically NEED to be circumcised are lesser than the chances that a male would DIE from the surgery as an infant. Furthermore, by 16 months old, the foreskin isn't supposed to be able to retract. It's not supposed to be able to retract until sometime between 2 and 18 years old.
My son had to get a circumcision at 4 years old. His bathtub erections were causing him pain, and his foreskin retraction was nearly nonexistent. I know that it's rare, but there ARE medical reasons for circumcision. I do think that circumcision should only be done for those few rare cases like my son's... of course if circumcision was that rare, then there would be stigma attached to circumsized penis'.
HAH! Perfect post. Thank you so much for this :)

ReplyDelete;) No need to worry here...we are PRO-foreskin!
DeleteHahaha I love this. Whenever I try to imagine why I would circumcise the beautiful boy I will one day have, this is all I can come up with as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty simple, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteI'm mildly psychic. ;)
DeleteSimple Perfection.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to understand why it is so complicated for some people. It really is as simple as keeping our babes perfect, as they were when they arrived.

Absolutely! Those who have made the mistake before they knew the truth are in a much more powerful position to educate than those of us who didn't.

DeleteOther Anonymous - the foreskin is not supposed to retract at a year old, so I can't imagine what serious issues developed at that age.
ReplyDeleteHOORAY!!! Love it. This is SUCH a non issue, really.
